Antibacterial Activities of Cationic Porphyrins and Porphyrin Encapsulated Gold Nanorods on Bacterial Cell Lines

Bacterial infections form part of the major causes mortality and morbidity around world more especially in developing under-developed countries. Cationic porphyrins have been reported to display better efficacy antimicrobial photodynamic therapy activity. The purpose this study was synthesise cationic porphyrins; (TAP) (TPyP) evaluate their pharmacokinetics metabolic interactions with DNA gyrase subunit A. antibacterial activity nano-conjugates evaluated against Staphylococcus aureus (ATCC 25925), Enterococcus faecalis 29212) Klebsiella pneumoniae 4352) using micro-dilution assay without light. AutoDock Vina used assess molecular between ligands SwissADME online tool pharmacokinetic properties nano-conjugates, while ADMETlab ability inhibit hERG gene, human hepatotoxicity mutagenicity. test showed broad-spectrum all tested bacterial strains MIC values a range 0.42 ± 0.1 to2.6 0.7 mg/ml. revealed good interaction A binding free energy -8.3 -8.7 kcal/ mol. They are predicted be P-glycoprotein (P-gp) substrates, able penetrate blood-brain barrier non-inhibitors cytochrome P450 (CYP) isomers (CYP 2C19, CYP 2C9 2D6). Both nanoconjugates potential cause cardiotoxic mutagenic effects but not hepatotoxic effects. results show that synthesized compounds as anti-bacterial PDT agents.
